The monitoring process in Bulgaria is undertaking relatively positive pace of development. The country is divided into 6 big areas, which affords easier implementation of the tourism monitoring initiatives in those areas. We need to focus on the Northeastern and Southeastern regions. Those regions have their own development plans and strategies. The districts that are supposed to be included in the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast observatory are Dobrich, Varna and Bourgas. Each district has its own strategy of tourism development. The Municipalities, part of the discussed districts, also develop their own strategies. They are collecting statistical data and are sending it to the district headquarters in order to be included in the general documentary file of the region. Tourism business and activities are being monitored and the data is being publicly released. But tourism is supposed to have higher priority for the stakeholders, than it has now. The main source of statistical data is the National statistical institution, that provides information about the travel and tourism in Bulgaria – inbound or outbound tourist flows by countries, by purpose of visit etc. The Ministry of Tourism also provides information about the travel and tourism data, tourist resources. At the moment, systematized monitoring process is not entirely established and the travel and tourism industry is not well observed and monitored. The BBSCO is about to change the situation. The data from the industry will be systematized, the exact resource fund will be revealed, and better advertising is to be effected. The main advantage of the Observatory will be the option to exert monitoring of the local tourism satisfaction, the economic benefit of the destination, employment, tourism seasonality, management. At the moment there is some data about the mentioned above, but it is still not enough and not well systematised.
